Motherwell a large town and former burgh of North Lanarkshire situated southeast of Glasgow. Motherwell is the headquarters for North Lanarkshire Council. Motherwell is very accessible as it is right next to the M74 leading to Cumbria where it becomes the M6. It is about 3 miles from the M8 between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The town has three railway stations, the Main station, Airbles and Shieldmuir. The main station runs on the West Coast line from Glasgow to London, Virgin Trains East Coast also provide a daily service to London. Excellent services to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
There are a number of bus companies that travel through the town to various different locations as well as servicing three hospitals in the area, Wishaw General, Hairmyres and Monklands.
The town has a Country Park, Civic Centre, Category A-Listed Dalzell House at the south of the town on the banks of the river Clyde and is situated next to Strathclyde park and M&Ds Amusement Park.
With sixteen primary schools, six secondary and a the new Motherwell college covering the education requirements of Motherwell.
It has its own football club MFC that was established in 1886 who play at their home ground of Fir Park. There are two golf clubs Colville Park Golf Club and Dalziel Park Hotel and Golf Club.
Aquatec Motherwell has a swimming pool, healthsuite and gym as well as Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility which offers a large selection of activities.
Motherwell also has a large selection of churches spread throughout the town from North Motherwell Church to Motherwell South Parish Church.
In the centre of the town you will find the Brandon Shopping centre with ample car parking and a variety of shops including some high street names.
The town has a good selection of pubs, clubs and restaurants.
